Whitsun at Carols Rock

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 | Author:

080510_7859.JPG 080510_7863-2.JPG It’s been Whitsun holiday last weekend. We hiked the Monkeys Rocks (Affensteine) up to Carols Rock (Carolafelsen). As usual on days like this there was quite a rush in the rocks. But fortunately there are enough hidden paths where you can find your rest. Summer’s coming visibly now. Everything is gettin verry colorfull. And while the kids are climbing the rocks, I’ve got plenty of time to take some shots.

Goodby ND3.0

Yes, I’ve broken my beloved 1000x neutral filter for ultra long time exposures. Right in the middle of the Markus square in Venice I dropped it down to the 1000 years old marble ground.

All hints to a dealer of theses ND3 filters with 72mm diameter and slim shape are welcome.

Edit: got a new one, B+W this time. Maybe soon there will be a “Welcome ND3.0″.

Open air museum in Seiffen

Sunday, February 17th, 2008 | Author:

We spent a weekend in the Erzgebirge mountains near Dresden. Usually this is a nice skiing area in winter, but this year, there’s no snow at all. So we visited the small village of Seiffen instead, where they have a nice traditional museum with farmers and miners cottages from the last century. I spent most of the time taking photos of the old equipment.

Morning Silhouette

After the nightly panorama shooting last week, here’s a view of the same spot from the opposite side. The image is taken on early sunday morning from the Marien bridge. The sun was heading straight into the lens. Thanks to the 12bit of the RAW data, I was able to reproduce the ripples on the river while keeping the silhouette as well as the details of the clouds.

After a long time I recently found some time to take some pictures at home. One of the things I always wanted to try is the standard panorama of the Dresden skyline from the bridge Albertbruecke. This is a DRI taken from 15 captures, 5 vertical shots with the 1.8/50mm lens on 3 different exposure times. I’m not completely satisfied yet, but it’s a first try.

Tyssaer Wände in winterlichem Zauber

Thursday, January 10th, 2008 | Author:
