There’s also winter in the Saxon Switzerland. The long lasting cold has caused the big waterfall at the Gautsch grotto near Hohenstein to completely freeze. It’s said that this happes for the first time since 1997. It must be about 20 meters high. Oooh… and this is a panorama stiched from 4 images:

It has been quite cold, about minus 20°C during the last two weeks. There were lots of nice ice floes on the river Elbe, glittering in the sun. And so there are some new winter pictures in the Dresden gallery.

Well, this is not my own idea. I’ve seen something like this years before. But I wanted to see something like this made by myself. These pictures will be seen soon in the lounge of Cascade Microtec GmbH.

It’s been 40 years since Olympus brought it’s first OM camera to the world. I wasn’t quite interested in photography by that time, since I’m as old as the OM-1. And as I lived at the wrong side of the wall, I’ve never owned one eighter. My first SLR was an EXA1b instead, followed by some PRAKTICAs.

But since yesterday I know what my 40th birthday present is going to be:

It’s been a while since I last wrote some lines here in my blog. Meanwhile we spent our four weeks of summer vacation up in northern Scotland. We visited the Islands of Orkney and the Northwest of Scotland. Especially the Isle of Skye gave us lots of wonderfull impressions on some walks along the Trotternish ridge.
